As a three-term president of the School Board ('08 - '11), Josh Nathan steered Rye schools through the great recession, supporting educational excellence while controlling taxes at below tax-cap levels, before there even was a tax cap. He served on the Board for nine years. Thereafter, in the wake of Super Storm Sandy and Hurricane Irene, he was appointed to the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery NY Rising Community Reconstruction Program Rye Planning Committee, which developed 18 storm resilience and flood mitigation projects, and obtained a three-million-dollar federal grant for Rye.
